What do you pay for a residence permit?
When a residence permit application is approved, two payments are made: the residence permit fee (harç) and the residence permit card fee. The fee depends on your nationality and the permit duration; the card fee is the same for everyone.
2026 tariff
Citizens of most countries pay the fee in amounts set in US dollars on the basis of reciprocity. For countries without a specific amount on the list, the Turkish lira tariff applies.

* The first month is calculated at 348,10 TL per day; minimum 653,70 TL, maximum 3.359,90 TL. Periods shorter than one month count as a full month.
Residence permit card fee (2026): 964 TL. Those who are exempt from the fee also pay the card fee.
Who is exempt from the fee
- Countries: citizens of Czechia, Denmark, Ireland, Kosovo, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Syria, Turkmenistan, the TRNC and Palestine (on the basis of reciprocity).
- Students studying at schools and universities in Türkiye.
- Foreigners of Turkish descent and attached to Turkish culture.
- Long-term residence permit holders.
- Those with a work permit or a work permit exemption; Turquoise Card holders and their families.
- Victims of human trafficking and persons recognised as indigent by the competent authority.
What you need to know
- Under-18s pay half the fee.
- The full fee is also paid for extension applications.
- Those who entered with a visa exemption and are applying for the first time may additionally be asked for a single-entry visa fee (9.376,40 TL); it is not charged to those who entered with a visa or e-Visa.
- If the card is lost, half the fee and the full card fee are paid again.
- USD amounts are paid in Turkish lira at the exchange rate on the day of payment.
